SABR Member Benefit Spotlight: Finding and Registering for Events
FEBRUARY 27, 2025 — As a SABR member, you have vast resources and benefits at your disposal. With so much information at your fingertips, we realize it can be overwhelming to absorb it all! To highlight key benefits, read on for this month’s SABR Member Benefit Spotlight, an email series that identifies and explains some of the most valuable features of your membership. We hope this allows you to take full advantage of all SABR has to offer. Today’s issue shows you where to look for upcoming events and register in advance for both local and national meetings …
Attending a SABR event is a great way to get involved with the organization, while taking advantage of your membership. Whether you’re looking for in-person or virtual meetings, there is a SABR event for you! SABR.org is a great place to start, and you can find all national and local meetings on our Events page.
SABR is proud to put on five national events annually that span all corners of baseball research.
- SABR Analytics Conference: The SABR Analytics Conference brings together the top minds in the baseball analytics community to discuss, debate, and share insightful ways to analyze and examine the great game of baseball. This event is held at Arizona State University’s downtown campus in Phoenix, Arizona. This year, the conference will take place on March 14-16, 2025. Registration is currently open for both in-person and virtual attendance at SABR.org/analytics.
- Frederick Ivor-Campbell 19th Century Base Ball Conference: SABR’s Nineteenth Century Research Committee hosts this in-person event in Cooperstown, New York, at the Baseball Hall of Fame every spring. This year’s conference will be held on April 25-26, 2025, and will feature guest speakers, panels, and research presentations. Registration is currently open for this year’s conference at SABR.org/ivor-campbell19c.
- Annual Convention: SABR’s annual convention is the organization’s biggest event of the year, and features top speakers and panels from around the baseball world, groundbreaking research presentations, a trivia contest, and the opportunity to meet fellow baseball fans and SABR members. Registration is now open for SABR 53! This summer, we’re headed to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, from June 25-29, 2025. We’ll take a tour of Globe Life Field, catch a Texas Rangers game, and a Frisco RoughRiders game as well. Visit SABR.org/convention to register or learn more about our announced guest speakers.
- Jerry Malloy Negro League Conference: Celebrating its 25th year in 2025, the Jerry Malloy Negro League Conference is the only symposium dedicated to Black baseball history. This year’s event will be held on August 7-9, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. This event features opportunities for oral and poster presentations focusing on any Black baseball topic, as well four awarded student scholarships, an essay contest, an art contest, and a library grant award. Keep an eye out for registration information to be announced soon at SABR.org/malloy.
- Women in Baseball Conference: In conjunction with the International Women’s Baseball Center, the Women in Baseball Conference is held virtually in the fall and offers research presentation opportunities focusing on the conference topic or any topic regarding women in baseball, on or off the field. This year’s conference will take place on September 19-21, 2025. Abstract submission deadlines and registration will be announced in mid-2025 at SABR.org/women-in-baseball-conference.
You can register for any of these events by clicking on the blue Learn More button beneath the event description on our Events page. Members receive a significant discount on event registrations, so make sure to sign into your SABR profile before completing the checkout process!
At the bottom of our events page, you’ll find a Google events calendar with all local and national events for the month. By clicking on an event, you can find out more details and a Zoom meeting registration link, if the meeting is virtual. Please note, all times listed are in the Eastern time zone, so please check the event description for local times. To add your SABR event to the events calendar, please reach out to Jessica Smyth or Jacob Pomrenke.
Our weekly newsletter, This Week In SABR, features an Events section that conveniently lists all upcoming events, sorted by virtual or in-person meeting-type. It also highlights a can’t-miss event for the week, as well as video replays of events from the previous week. If you would like to add your SABR event to the newsletter, you can do so by emailing Jacob Pomrenke.
Event Registrations on Your Profile
You can view all previous and current event registrations that you’ve signed up for on your profile.
- After signing into your profile, click on “Welcome, [your name]” in the top right corner. A drop down menu will appear; click on “Invoices”.
- This will take you to your “Payments and History” page. Click on “Event Registrations” at the top of this page.
- You should now be viewing all past or upcoming SABR event registrations. You can click on the blue printer icon to the right of the event to review and print your registration details and invoice.
