John Gabcik

John Gabcik (1943-2019) was born and raised in Chicago, and had been following the White Sox since 1952.  He and his wife, Edie, retired from the Chicago area to Brevard, North Carolina, in 2007.  John joined SABR in 2009 and wrote biographies and game stories, concentrating on under-appreciated White Sox pitchers and other personalities.  He also helped Retrosheet develop game play-by-play recreations. 

John passed away in Brevard on August 2, 2019, from complications of recurring cancer.  He was 76.
