Ray Birch

Ray Birch lives in North Kingstown, RI. He is a retired school teacher where he co-taught a class on baseball to students. He has been a member of SABR since 2000. He wrote the article about Rick Burleson for the SABR book on the 1975 Red Sox, and the articles about George Thomas and Joe Foy for the SABR book on the 1967 Red Sox. Ray is a life-long Red Sox fan, who attended his first game at Fenway Park in 1961, just missing seeing the great Ted Williams play. He also was at the game at Fenway Park in July, 1967 against the Orioles where the Red Sox turned a triple play, and Game Seven of the 1975 World Series, thanks to Carlton Fisk’s homer in Game Six.
