All-inclusive rate

We’re again offering an all-inclusive rate in 2018 for the annual SABR convention. SABR members can pay $319 for an all-inclusive package with a ticket to the Pirates game — the package is a savings of $30 off the regular rate. Non-members can pay $394 for the all-inclusive rate.

For the all-inclusive rate, you will receive:

Full registration to SABR 48 in Pittsburgh (regular rate: $279 for SABR members or $354 for non-members)
1 ticket in the Corner Box (LF) section to the Pirates vs. Diamondbacks game on Friday, June 22 — includes special “A Day at the Ballpark” pregame session at PNC Park ($40 value)
1 ticket to the Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 22 ($60 value)

The deadline to register with the all-inclusive rate was Friday, May 18, 2018. Regular registration and single-day rates are still available online.

Note: SABR members who wish to bring a guest or spouse to the ballpark session only on Friday, June 22 at PNC Park can purchase a SABR 48 Ballpark Session pass on-site during the convention for the low cost of $25, plus a Pirates game ticket. You must have both a convention badge and your Pirates game ticket in order to enter the ballpark early.

Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 22

SABR will host a special Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 22 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh. The Awards Luncheon, which includes a full meal, will feature the announcement of SABR’s annual awards — including the Bob Davids Award, our highest honor.

Pirates vs. Diamondbacks game and “A Day at the Ballpark” on Friday, June 22

Attendees at our SABR 48 convention this summer in Pittsburgh will have a special opportunity to visit PNC Park for an exclusive pregame “A Day at the Ballpark” session with Pittsburgh Pirates executives and players before the Pirates game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, June 22. Guest speakers and more details will be announced later this spring.

Please note: Our block of Pirates game tickets is no longer available. You can purchase a game ticket on your own by visiting Pirates.com/tickets.

SABR has reserved a block of tickets in the Corner Box (LF) section:

Corner Box (LF) section game ticket: $40 for members; $45 for non-members
(game ticket includes “A Day at the Ballpark” session for registered attendees)

Transportation: PNC Park is within walking distance (0.7 miles) of our SABR 48 convention hotel via the Three Rivers Heritage Trail or the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Taxis and ride-share options are also available from the hotel. Visit our Transportation Tips page for walking directions to PNC Park.

How to pick up your game ticket: You will be able to redeem your game ticket at the registration desk using the chit system. If you do not care with whom you sit, you should turn your chit into your game ticket right away at the hotel. But if you want to sit with a friend, first make sure you have tickets in the same section — the SABR registration desk will not accept exchanges in different sections after you make your purchase — and then wait to turn in your chits at the same time, thereby getting tickets next to one another.

Bring a guest or spouse with the SABR 48 Ballpark Session pass: SABR members who wish to bring a guest or spouse to the ballpark session only on Friday, June 22 at PNC Park can purchase a SABR 48 Ballpark Session pass on-site during the convention for the low cost of $25, plus a Pirates game ticket. RSVP for special Roberto Clemente Museum visit on Wednesday, June 20

The Roberto Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh has a special offer for SABR 48 attendees: The museum will host four tours (maximum of 20 people per tour) at $20 per person on Wednesday, June 20. Space is extremely limited, and reservations will only be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please call the museum at (412) 621-1268, Ext. 2, to reserve your space. No reservations can be made online; payment is due on-site when you arrive for the tour.

The tours last about 1.5 hours and the start times on Wednesday, June 20 are as follows (subject to availability):

Please call the museum to check on any changes in availability for the tours.

Transportation to and from the museum is on your own; the museum is about 3.5 miles from the convention hotel and is accessible via taxi/rideshare or by several Port Authority bus lines in the city. All questions and inquiries should be directed to the Clemente Museum at the main number above.

The Clemente Museum is housed in historic Engine House 25, 3339 Penn Avenue, in the revitalized Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. Executive Director and Curator Duane Rieder has meticulously renovated Engine House 25 to showcase the world’s largest exhibited collection of baseball artifacts, works of art, literature, photographs, memorabilia, and related materials which focus on Roberto Clemente, his teammates, his personal life, and his humanitarian causes. Single-Day Registration

Single-day registration for SABR 48 can be purchased online by clicking here or on-site during convention registration hours. The single-day rate is as follows:

Thursday, June 21: $149 for SABR members, $179 non-members
Saturday, June 23: $149 for SABR members, $179 non-members

The single-day rate includes admission to all convention panels, research presentations, and committee meetings at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh. It can be purchased on-site via cash, check, or credit card (sorry, no American Express accepted.) Please note: Admission to the SABR 48 Awards Luncheon, the Donors Breakfast, and the Pirates game are not included.

Avoid the rush at registration, and pre-order your SABR 48 convention logo polo shirt, T-shirt, or baseball cap online! Deadline to pre-order: Friday, May 18, 2017. Please indicate shirt size (adult S to XXXL) when you register. Items will be available to be picked up when you arrive at the SABR convention. (Sorry, we cannot mail out any pre-ordered items after the convention.) Caps are one-size-fit-most.

How to register

In order to make it easier for you to register or add guests/spouses for the convention, here are step-by-step instructions on how to register for SABR 48.

Please note that the all-inclusive rate does include 1 full registration; 1 ticket to the Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 22; and 1 ticket to the Pirates vs. Diamondbacks game on Friday, June 22 (including “A Day at the Ballpark.”)

1) Click here to go to the SABR Store.
2) Fill out your badge information: On the first screen, fill out your badge information, including name, city/state, email address, phone number, whether you are a first-time convention attendee, and any dietary needs/special accommodations. Then click the “Next” button.
3) Choose your own registration ticket: You can now add any of our registration items here: choose between the All-Inclusive Rate or A La Carte registration rate, or add any extra tickets you want for the Awards Luncheon* or the Pirates game ticket*.
* Reminder: 1 ticket to the Awards Luncheon and 1 Pirates game ticket is already included in the All-Inclusive package.
4) Choose any souvenir items: You can also purchase any of our SABR 48 convention logo souvenir items: golf/polo shirt, T-shirt, or baseball cap. When you are finished, select the “Save & Finalize Registration.”
5) Checkout (Step 1 of 2): Verify that your registration information is correct and scroll down to fill out your billing information. Then click the “Proceed to Confirmation” button.
6) Checkout (Step 2 of 2): If everything on the screen is correct — click “Complete Order”. Your credit card will not be charged until you complete the checkout process.

To add a guest/spouse to banquet or ballgame

SABR members who wish to bring a guest or spouse to the ballpark session only on Friday, June 22 at PNC Park can do so for the low cost of $25, plus a Pirates game ticket. Please note that the all-inclusive rate already does include 1 ticket to the Awards Luncheon and 1 ticket to the Pirates vs. Diamondbacks game on Friday at PNC Park.

If you wish to purchase an additional game or Awards Luncheon ticket for a guest or spouse, here’s how:

1) Follow steps 1-4 above. Then select the “Save & Add Another Attendee” button.
2) Fill out your guest’s registration information: Fill out your guest’s badge information (Attendee #2), including name, city/state, email address, phone number, number of annual conventions attended and first-time attendee.
2) Choose your event tickets:
– To add a guest for only the ballpark session at PNC Park: click the SABR 48 Ballpark Session pass only button ($25) in the required registration field, then click the SABR 48 Pirates game ticket button ($40) in the optional field below. (Click here for a screenshot preview.)
– To add a guest for the banquet or simply to purchase an extra Pirates game ticket: click the Select here button ($0) in the required registration field, then choose your ticket for the Awards Luncheon* or the Pirates game*.

3) If you wish to add a third guest (Attendee #3) — click the “Save & Add Another Attendee” button again and repeat this process. When you are ready to check out, click the “Save & Finalize Registration” button.
