Tim Otto
Tim Otto grew up in northeast Ohio, 35 miles from Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium. His first memories of major league baseball date to the spring of 1960 when, as a second-grader, he was fascinated by the controversy surrounding the trade of Rocky Colavito to the Tigers for Harvey Kuenn. Shortly thereafter he started monopolizing the sports section of the Cleveland Plain Dealer each morning at breakfast, and that June attended his first major league game. An early exposure to statistics resulted from his determined efforts to calculate a pitcher’s ERA from the information shown on baseball cards. This interest in numbers proved to be an asset during his 35-year career in the banking industry. Tim is now retired and living in the Dayton area with his wife, who appreciates that the time spent in researching and writing SABR articles keeps him busy.
