Ralph Caola
/in /by Jason BestRalph Caola is from Troy, New York, where he grew up playing baseball and listening to games with his father. After a lack of talent ended his collegiate baseball career, he played softball for 30 years. In 2003, he wrote a series of articles titled “Using Calculus to Relate Runs to Wins,” which appeared in SABR’s Statistical Analysis Research Committee newsletter, By The Numbers. The retired engineer and businessman now spends his summers in Troy and winters in Port Charlotte, Florida, playing tennis and golf.
