Find Your Twin card match game
Attendees at SABR 52 will find a special surprise in their registration packets when they arrive at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis this summer: a random Minnesota Twins baseball card. That card has a duplicate matching with someone else who is attending the convention. Find your card “Twin” during the convention and make a new baseball friend!
Then head to the SABR 52 Photo Booth located in the Exhibitors’ Room (Boundary Waters Ballroom) to take a photo with your twin and enter a raffle to win prizes. The SABR 52 Photo Booth will also provide attendees with an opportunity to create a commemorative baseball card, featuring their own photo and a choice of custom Twin Cities-themed backdrop.

Join us on July 25 for Schenectady Mohawk Giants historical marker ceremony
All baseball fans are invited to join us at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25 for a dedication ceremony of a historical marker commemorating the Mohawk Giants team in Schenectady, New York. The ceremony at SUNY Schenectady’s West Campus, which is open to the public, will include speakers from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. SABR’s Cliff Kachline Chapter received a SABR Local Grant in 2023 for the funding and installation of the marker, which is located on the site of Island Park in Schenectady.
The Mohawk Giants were one of Black baseball’s most talented teams during an era of racial segregation in the early 20th century. The 1913 team, which included star pitchers Frank Wickware and Harry Buckner, was recently recognized by SABR’s Special Negro Leagues and Teams Committee as a major-league-caliber team.

Writing Opportunities: Cape Cod League book project
SABR is looking for contributors for a forthcoming book on the Cape Cod Baseball League. We are particularly looking this summer for members who might be able to visit during Cape Cod League games and connect with some of the personalities associated with the games, or write about aspects of the league that the editors have perhaps not yet imagined.
A list of possible topics is available on request, including wooden bats, host families, scouts, broadcasters, and more. Please contact Bill Nowlin if you are interested in contributing to this project.
