Neyer is a longtime baseball writer and editor for ESPN.com, SB Nation, and FoxSports.com. He began his career as a research assistant for groundbreaking baseball author Bill James and later worked for STATS, Inc. He has also written or co-written seven baseball books, including The Neyer/James Guide to Pitchers (with Bill James), winner of the Sporting News/SABR Baseball Research Award, and most recently Power Ball: Anatomy of a Modern Baseball Game, winner of the 2019 CASEY Award.

“Libraries’ Archivist Helps Illustrate New York Times Story”

Mike Schmidt (OHIO UNIVERSITY)“Bill Kimok, Ohio University archivist and records manager, stepped up to bat in early June to help bring to life a New York Times article about OHIO alum Mike Schmidt, a baseball Hall of Famer who played on the Philadelphia Phillies for 18 seasons. The story, authored by New York Times writer Tyler Kepner, was titled “The Best Pick Any Big League Team Has Made,” and was featured in the Sports Monday section of the Times. It was published in print on June 7 and was also featured on the newspaper’s website.”
